A buuilding boom in Bulgaria's Haskovo, apartment rents reach 350 euro

haskovoIt is interesting to note that prices for new and old construction units in Haskovo are almost the same, although new apartments need hard conclusion works and the old ones are often dilapidated and cannot be inhabited without a serious revamp. The town of Haskovo has recently seen a burst of building activity. However, the capacity of the central areas has already been reached, and entrepreneurs have started complaining about the lack of plots. They have more than once raised the edition of the unutilised large premises of the former city barracks, starting from the centre and reaching the end of the town. The Defence Ministry has not yet taken any gauge towards ceding this spacious stretch of more than 250 decares.
Currently, newly build residential units start from 430 to 800 euro a sq m, and the apartments are usually sold unfinished, i.e. without floor covering, terracotta and faience, only with gypsum plaster and cement paste. Small flats are most actively sought - primarily due to the low price in absolute terms; there is still a keen interest in prefabs, brokers announced.
Workshops have peaked at 40 000 leva and, if the apartment is in the centre, and of monolith type, the price could hit 55 000 leva. A two-room prefab flat in peripheral neighbourhoods cannot be bought below 55 000 leva. If it is a brick or monolith style, it commands a price of more than 60 000. The central location could add an additional mark-up of 5 to 10 000 leva.
