Bulgarian resorts ranked at the bottom of the price lists of British tour operators

Krasimir Stanev – executive director of Albena Jsc told at a news conference that  Bulgarian resorts ranked at the bottom of the price lists of British tour operators, Dnevnik daily announced . But  that is not, however, where Albena wants to be.
Many of British tourists were put off by the higher prices at Albena seaside resort, and have choosed for a holiday in Slunchev Bryag (Sunny Beach), Stanev told. For that reason, company executives anticipate that many of UK customers to Albena will drop by 10 to 15 per cent this summer, compared to the 2007 season. Belgian and Dutch tourists’ flow is probable to follow a such trend.
Stanev utterance his expectations that German tourist, traditionally predominant in Albena, will support their part. Germany has been suffering the effects of economic recession for a few years now, which accounts for the retirement of German tourists from Bulgarian resorts. This, along with the systematic poor organisation, has turned Bulgaria into the destination-of-choice for low-income holiday-makers, Stanev commented. His ambition is to draw more affluent tourists, Dnevnik wrote.
Consequently, after the launch of the five-star Flamingo hotel in June this year, the Albena resort management plans to start job on another 5 star plan – Kaliakra 2 hotel and on the Black Sea coastline’s most contemporary centre for thalassotherapy .As previously announced, estimated investment will reach from 55 to 60 million leva. Both plans are scheduled for completion by 2010. Anyway the building will start this year.
Another 5-star hotel complex will build up above the information centre, Stanev told. Managers have planned to relocate the administrative property and to build a 4-star hotel on its site.
Albena owns 300ha in the village of the neighbouring village of Rogachevo and plan to develop a 50ha golf course there. The 1th  phase will be launched at the end of 2010, Stanev told. Investment will come to 7 million euro.
The company has plans for the growth and enlargement of its complex in Primorsko resort, as well. Four-star holiday villages will be raised in Primorsko and Ahtopol, Dnevnik announced.
