British Concil organises science week in Bulgaria


scienceBritish Council in Bulgaria organises a Bulgarian Science Week from September 20 to 29 2007.
The event has already been opened on September 20, with the live science show Visualise – the Beauty of Science, in which an engineer and a biochemist from a UK company show a spectacle of live experiments, video, lights and music.
The Science Week continues on September 25 the debate The God Particle – Is Science the New Religion? between 6 and 8pm in the Timeless Cafe Club, at the Union of Architects, 11 Krakra Street. Speaker is Jim Al-Khalili from the UK’s Surrey University.
A public debate on September 26 with the heading Did the Big Bang really happen? will take place in Akademia Hall, 3 Mizia street.
On September 27 2007, at 1.30pm follows a show Fluid Crystals in the Biology and Medicine” by acad. Alexander Petrov from Via Sapienzia foundation in the Timeless Cafe Club.
Another lecture, Hearing: the Science of Telepathy” with announcer Jan Schnupp from the Oxford University starts at 6pm, same place.
A day later in the National Polytechnic Museum the film Тhe Linnaeus Expedition will be show at 10.30am and a presentation Find Your Partner by the Smell starts at 1.30pm.
European Researchers Night 2007 is the night of September 28 and several parallel events will take place throughout Bulgaria. Among them feature Young Talents Atelier in Sofia’s Archaeological and the Ethnographic Museums and debates of young people with researchers, museum visits and exhibitions.
The 9-day week of science closes on September 26 with a Cafe Scientifique show on Science and Fairy Tales, with participants from Fame Lab Bulgaria 2007.
