Second amusement park in Sofia

New building of diversion and sports complexes are going to be build. This was discussed by Sofia mayor Boyko Borissov and the head of the State Agency for Youth and Sports (SAYS) Vessela Lecheva.
The new pastime park will be similar to the late Sofialand. It will be open doors near Sofia’s West Park.
Sofia city hall will ask to a concession for the garden near West Park in the coming months. The place is very suitable for a new amusement park, because there is no car traffic close by, Dikov commented.
However, he admitted that no one has gave expression an interest in the plan so far, but he was positive that candidates would soon appear.
The region major of Ilinden Roumyana Doichinova told that she didn’t have a  explanation about the contemplated initiative on the premises of her municipality
The other initiative that was considered during Borrissov and Lecheva’s meeting was Sofia’s application to become host of the European volleyball championship in 2011. Currently, Varna andSofia are in a heated competition to host the event. Therefore the capital’s governors are working hard on the growth of a new 6 000-seat sports hall in Mladost neighbourhood right across Hit hypermarket.
The papers for its building would be prepared by the end of the month, Borissov told. The complex is estimated at 60-100 million euro.
Sofia Municipality and SAYS are thinking over  the subjection of Sofia’s application for hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics, as well. It would be likely after the erection of a National sports hall, seating 10 000-12 000 people, near the Fourth Kilometer along Tzarigradsko Chose, between Iztok and Moussagenitsa neighbourhoods, Lecheva told. And the former Yunak stadium in Boris’ garden will be revamped into a modern skating rink, with view to being used in the event of Sofia hosting the Winter Olympics 2018.
