Sofia's central railway station sported with new lifts and escalators, which will be officially opened on Tuesday by Bulgaria's Transport Minister Petar Mutafchiev, the station press center informed.

The new facilities were especially installed for people with disabilities and thus will create better conditions for the travelers. The six additional escalators and six lifts are manufactured by the German Thyssen Company.

Five of the lifts were installed on the east exits of the platforms on the place of the old escalators and the sixth was installed next toe the stairs leading from the waiting lounge to the platforms. Each of them can take up to 1300 kilograms or 17 people.

The facilities, which cost a total of BGN 4, 124, 400, were installed by Transstroy Company.
