Drop in Bulgarian property prices in Third quarter of 2013

New data from realtors across Bulgaria shows that the average asking price for residential properties is going down. The 3rd    quarter of 2013 saw a marginal decline, the 4th quarter in a row drops have been noted. The average decrease in prime neighborhoods stood at 1.8 per cent year-on-year. This reducing of property prices was greater in towns suffering from high unemployment rates, such as Dobrich, Vidin and Vratsa.

The average asking price in the Bulgarian capital Sofia stood at 1,444.83 BGN or 631.92BGP per sq.m., while in coastal Varna values recorded at BGN 1,381.33 per sq.m. In Burgas property prices ended the 3rd quarter at 1,113.33per sq.m. This drop in value was not the result of weak demand. Limited budgets among buyers also kept prices law. Quick cash led to sellers accepting low prices is another reason for discounts.

Bulgarian Registry Agency data showed that 59 475 properties were sold in Bulgaria between July and the end of September.
